Amazing Camera Phone Pixs

These are two pictures Tim Jackson took with his CAMERA PHONE! As we wrote about in Parting Shots this issue, camera phones are really taking over and becoming more and more popular. Go Tim for taking amazing shots with just a phone!

In an e-mail to PBase Magazine he told us that the pictures are: "Post-capture processing, including conversion to b&w, was done with Photoshop CS2. The camera is handy, as it's always in my pocket, but it would be more useful if it had full manual control (focus, aperture, shutter speed, iso). But I'm not complaining!"

PBase Magazine #5 Errata

Last updated: April 12 2006

  • Page 16, Article on Masking for Contrast Control: We did not include 'Figure 13'. Fortunately, it was only a snapshot of the channel palette of photoshop. Actually, we purposely deleted that image to fit the article into the layout but forgot to delete the reference to Figure 13 and renumber the other images. That tells you how attentive the editors are.

  • Page 33, PAD article: The image in the second column titled "London's South Bank....." was incorrectly attributed to Lee Rudd instead of John Waine who took the photograph. Sorry John, next time I am in London, you owe me a beer. Oops , sorry, I owe you a beer !

Magazine #4 Errata

This is a list of some typos/errors that crept into Issue #4. Thanks to the readers for pointing them out. We will only fix errors that we think are 'significant' (yes, we are the lord and masters, you don't get to argue on what is significant :-) )

Each time we fix these errors, a new version of the PDF and ZIP file are uploaded to replace the old one.

Latest Replacement on Jan 12 2005

  • Page 1 (Editorial) - Fixed Table of Contents 'Featured PBase Photographer' to refer to Francis Toussaint (was Monique Bogaerts before)
  • Page 8 (Interview with MR) - Profile Box - changed 'Epson 488' to 'Epson 4800' - this is the printer MR uses

PBase Cover Jigsaw

Well, we are all done with the Magazine - just waiting for July 11th to release Issue #2.

In the meantime, we launched a impromptu competition in the PBase Forums where we posted a jigsaw puzzle of the cover page. The first person to solve it would get a copy before anyone else and also have his name in the magazine.

The nutty competition was announced at http://forum.pbase.com/viewtopic.php?t=12551

Jeremy Goodell (http://www.pbase.com/jeremygood) solved the puzzle the fastest. Congrats Jeremy - hope you liked the magazine !
